Designing Forbes Asset Finance's brand identity and website

I collaborated with Jo Forbes on her start-up, focusing on understanding her target audience and addressing asset finance challenges. We developed unique branding, including a logo, business cards, and a single-page website to highlight Jo's authority and enthusiasm.

  • Differentiated Forbes Asset Finance with a personalised and approachable brand.
  • Developed a user-friendly, single-page site that improved client understanding and engagement.
  • Provided professional business cards and an online presence, aiding successful networking and business growth.

My Role

It’s always a great pleasure to work with a start-up, especially when the director has as much passion as Jo Forbes; it’s definitely contagious.

Jo got in touch via a referral, which is always a positive start to any project.

We had a kick-off meeting where we discussed her business and future plans.

I wanted to understand her target audience first.

I presented some of the main challenges when looking into asset finance:

  • Navigating the complexities of financing options.
  • Understanding the terms and conditions of different asset finance products.
  • Finding reliable information and trustworthy financial institutions.

And tried to answer them:

  • Expert guidance and analysis: providing detailed explanations of various asset finance options, helping the customer understand the pros and cons and how they can help achieve business goals.
  • Customised financial planning: a tailored finance package considering specific needs, cash flows, and project cycles.
  • Access to a network of lenders, financial institutions, and industry resources, offering better financing terms and opportunities through established relationships.

I created personas to keep us focused on our end user.

I asked for a list of standout companies in the sector and conducted my own market analysis.

I found that most companies had:

  • A ‘city-centric’ feel to their online presence
  • Masculine colours and imagery
  • Pages of information on asset finance education for the user

They all had a very corporate feel; we needed something different. Jo’s enthusiasm and passion were the hooks for the business, being the main point of contact and handling projects.

The logo

We did several rounds of ideation until we narrowed it down to five options.

Business Cards

Business cards were essential for Jo because she had some major events coming up, and we were working to a tight deadline.

Merchandise

We also explored the possibilities of creating merchandise, including apparel.

Website

I steered Jo towards a single page at this stage of her business because we weren’t planning to educate our customers via the website; this was something that Jo was going to do personally.

The website went through several rounds of wireframes, and then we moved onto high-fidelity (HI-FI) prototypes.

We needed a website that gave Jo authority and trust in the sector, as well as making it more about Jo herself.

The future

While the site is still in phase 1, we plan to add more case studies and testimonials as the business grows.

Additionally, we intend to update it as we gain insights into what information assists potential customers in making decisions.
